Tom Twist is the Sustainability Manager at Bates College, in Lewiston, Maine. His role is to help coordinate all the moving pieces of sustainability at the college into an integrated and synergistic whole. He is currently focused on reducing Bates’ carbon emissions profile to meet their carbon neutrality goal of 2020. Prior to his time at Bates, Tom was the Sustainability Officer for the Chewonki foundation for 8 years, where he worked mainly with their renewable energy systems, including one of the nation’s first renewable hydrogen fuel cell systems. He has spoken internationally on Tidal Power collaborations between nonprofits and municipalities. Tom is a LEED Accredited Professional and is a member of Maine’s Green Campus Consortium – a group of sustainability coordinators from all of the different colleges and universities in the state.
