David Vail is Adams Catlin Professor of Economics and Director of Environmental Studies Emeritus at Bowdoin College.
David and his wife June are participants in the Crystal Spring Farm Solar Association and he serves on the Advisory Board of the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust, which owns Crystal Spring Farm.
In the field of renewable energy, David was project economist on a University of Maine Presque Isle team from 2012 to 2015, studying the potential of perennial grass as a renewable energy feedstock (an NSF/EPSCoR project).
David has several board and consulting roles. He currently serves on boards at Coastal Enterprises, Inc, the Chewonki Foundation, and The Swedish Program for American students at the Stockholm School of Economics. David is also a consultant to the Appalachian Mountain Club, Wireless Partners LLC, and Maine Woods Discovery, a standards-based marketing collaboration among twelve of northern Maine’s premier outdoor adventure providers.
